AREAS OF UNIQUE EXPERTISE
PRE AND POST NATAL PILATES
At the Align Wellness Studio, our instructors have been extensively trained and certified as Pre and Post Natal Pilates Specialists by the Center for Women’s Fitness where the program is holistic in nature and designed to work according to nature’s schedule with the help of the mind/body exercise system of Pilates.
We train each client physically, mentally and emotionally, realigning the body for a successful natural birth according to the wishes of the individual mother. We empower women to take charge of their health and their birth plan and take great pleasure in supporting women during this wonderful journey.
Postpartum care is critical to a new mother’s physical and emotional well-being. We help our clients transition to motherhood, whether it’s their first or their third child. We utilize the Pilates system of rehabilitation to encourage the body to strengthen and realign. Our breathing techniques allow mothers a chance to calm, focus and re-energize.
DIASTASIS RECTI RECOVERY
Instructors are certified in The Center Method for Diastasis Recti Recovery®. A diastasis is commonly known as a separation of the rectus abdominis muscles which may occur during excessive abdominal exercise and incorrect recruitment of the abdominal muscles whenever exertion is placed on the torso, such as in heavy lifting or during pregnancy and/or the birthing process itself.
NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS
At Align Wellness Studio, we are passionate about working with clients who live with neurological conditions. Several of our instructors are trained in Pilates for MS™ (multiple sclerosis) and are experienced in working with its common symptoms such as balance difficulties, ataxia, gait abnormalities, single side weakness, general weakness, spasticity, and bladder and bowel issues. The exercises used to assist clients with MS are applicable to most neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and traumatic spinal cord injury.
It is our hope that this growing program and focus will assist in the grossly underserved population of persons with chronic neurological conditions.
